Class D (1961-1975)
D1 1961- Mercedes Benz 190SL
The name resembles the 300SL, 190SL Released in 1954 with an identical convertible body to the 300SL, it adopted a shortened 180 saloon floorpan with enlarged 180 OHV engine to 1.9liter with SOHC. Rather than be called a sports car it belongs to a category of "promenade car" which is good to drive elegantly through Promnade Des Anglais in Nice to show off. The car was a global success with a touch of 300SL image skillfully crafted.
